We will be making a trip to the beautiful Sunshine Coast to play a show in Gibsons, BC at the Beachhouse Showlounge! Come see us June 16, 2012 with a couple of fine local acts.
We are doin’ Music Waste this year! Check out their website for deets! The date of our show is to be confirmed, but here is the photo from the ‘Waste shoot.
Thanks to Kate Henderson for ruling at photography! View her work here.
We’ve returned from the Island mini-tourette victorious! We had a lot of fun partying with the Island folk. Thanks to those who hosted us at their homes, fed us, came to the shows, bought records and, in doing so, helped pay our ferry fare. We will be back sometime again soon!
If you Vancouverites feel left out of the Carolyn/Pines sweet action, fear not! We will be hitting the stage once again with Carolyn at The Biltmore on Tuesday, May 15th. So quit yer whinin’! Ha!
Hope to see you soon!
Your pal,
Marissa

P.S. I’ll trade anyone a ‘Pines record for one of these:
Exciting news! After things fell through for a Vancouver Island trip last fall, we have done some due diligence and resurrected the plan!
We are also thrilled to report that we will be traveling with the totally amazing Carolyn Mark! ‘How’d you get so lucky’, you ask? Well, let’s say it took some convincing, but my tortilla soup eventually won the gal over. All it takes is a little wining and dining!
Here are the deets thus far:
Friday, April 6 – Victoria – TBD
Saturday, April 7 – Nanaimo – Crace Mountain
Sunday, April 8 – TBD
We will be replacing “TBD”s with actual content VERY soon, so stay tuned! If you can help with any of them, let us know at hellopines@gmail.com.
I am very excited to report our upcoming show with Hard Drugs and the total jammer Johnny Wakeham next Saturday, January 21 at The Biltmore. Click here to view the Facebook event. Please note that it’s an early show, starting at 8:30pm SHARP. We all have to be outta there by 11pm so that people can start a dance party. So no lollygagging!
Your Pal,
Marissa
PS. I’m copying these new year’s resolutions for 2012, with some slight revisions.
As the holidays are swiftly approaching, I wanted to write a little note to wish you all a glorious and cheerful holiday season. Hole up with your loved ones, watch movies, eat delicious things, and cross your fingers that you get a Snuggie from that special someone.
If you’re looking to get festive while supporting a great cause and being entertained by some of Vancouver’s most kick-ass bands, my recommendation is this:
(Poster designed by yours truly!)
A Very Vancougar Christmas. My sister’s band, Vancougar, have been getting together for the past 8 Christmases to celebrate with one another, and for the first time ever have extended the invitation to everybody! The event also supports the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC), with donations of items accepted at the door in exchange for $1.00 off the cover charge of $10. Bring 10 items, get in for free! Click here for suggested items from the DEWC site.
To sweeten the deal further, there will be a raffle draw for fabulous prizes, and giveaways all night long. Weathered Pines will be contributing a copy of our LP, The Sky Between the Buildings, for a lucky winner. Wowee!
Anyhoo, I hope you all have a very happy holiday season and on behalf of the ‘Pines, warmest wishes for a wonderful season.
Just wanted to update you on the details of our show coming up December 2 at Pat’s Pub in Vancouver! Local rock’n'rollers, The Radii, have been added to the bill. A fine lineup indeed!
If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Consignment too. They have a new record coming out this Thursday, called New Low on Seattle’s ggnzla records. I’m a big fan of the 7″ that came out last year on the local lovable label, Sweet Rot Records, so I’m super stoked to latch my fingers around the upcoming release.
As for us, we’ll be bustin’ out some newbies for you all, and are delighted to be playing with both of these bands.
Also, a reminder you can stream our entire record online, or download our demo for free here.
We hope to see you December 2! If you’re from out of town, start walking!
Sorry, readers. That was pretty lame. Now I’ll try to redeem myself with some good news.
I just booked us a show December 2nd, 2011 at Pat’s Pub! We are thrilled to be playing with Seattle darlins Consignment! I saw them about a year ago at the Railway Club and it was a ton-o-fun.
